Bodhisattva Precept Class: Do Not Kill – Cultivate and Encourage Life

This is one of the most important precepts that ask us to look into the nature of birth and death. It is the first of the ten grave precepts. While most of us do not intend to kill, if we examine our lives closely, we are involved in a lot of killing – weeds, insects, mice, and eating meat are common. And then there are the difficult questions involving abortion and euthanasia and the funding of others who kill in our collective name. How do we walk this precept given these conditions?
