Tozan’s Five Ranks, or Seasons, are poems describing the flow of practice through absolute and relative truth. Kyogen Carlson talked about the absolute dimension being like a bicycle. During this Ango period, we are invited to deepen our attention in zazen. What is this bicycle? How does one ride it? What is emptiness and how is it realized in ordinary life?
